Dental Sealants

Teeth sealants are plastic coatings that protect molars and premolars from decay, and we recommend them wholeheartedly! The statistics are out and show this to be a tremendous boost to a cavity-free mouth.

Sealants are plastic coverings placed on deep grooves in molars or premolars to act as a barrier and protect the enamel on teeth from plaque and acids. They are recommended by the American Dental Association (ADA) for children and teens. At Austin Kids Teeth, we use the highest quality, BPA-free sealant material. All of our sealants are placed by a dentist, rather than by a dental hygienist or dental assistant, to ensure a high retention rate, meaning they stay on kids’ teeth. In fact, with proper care, our sealants can last up to a decade, keeping your child’s teeth safe from bacteria, plaque, acids and cavities for years. The latest research shows that having dental sealants placed on permanent molars can reduce cavities on these surfaces by 80 percent!
